Reiki is a Japanese word meaning free flowing universal life energy.
It was introduced to the world in the late 1800s and has been passed from teacher to pupil since then.
It is a simple but profound system of healing which can help everyone on all levels - physically and spiritually. You will however only receive what you need from the session. Just because you may have a broken toe does not mean that this will be cured; the energy may feel that the bruise on your hand is more important to work on. Reiki basically uses hands laid on the body while the healing energy flows through.
The most usually felt sign of the energy flowing is a feeling of warmth from the healer's hand. Reiki can however also be performed with hands over the body or used for distance healing. Some people fall asleep during the treatment or feel very relaxed at the end of the session. Therefore it is advisable not to plan to do anything too noisy or energetic immediately afterwards. Drinking plenty of water after the session is essential.
The healing energies will sometimes continue in the body for about 48 hours after the treatment and hopefully improvement will stay with you as long as is highest wisdom. Depending on why you are having treatments it can be recommended to have up to five treatments on consecutive days. However one treatment can be luxury. Don't forget Reiki can be used on animals and plants.
Both Cheryl (Sherhadasha) and Michael are Reiki Masters. A treatment can take anything from 30 minutes to 1½ hours, depending on what is happening.
